The financial support from the S.Y.Killingley Memorial Trust came at a time when I was slowly and reluctantly coming to accept the prospect of a second year of part-time study fuelled by bread and butter alone. Having spent the first year of my M.Litt. working up to five part-time jobs at a time, naps often took precedence over studying (sometimes unexpectedly and slightly embarrassingly in the library). The nagging, ever-present financial concerns, coupled with the necessity of sleep, became a weight I did not fully realise I was carrying until it was lifted when the Killingley Trust offered to pay for my second instalment of fees. Beyond this (very much appreciated) financial support, the interview itself was excellent – more like a study group with enlightening discussion and delicious biscuits. I am enormously grateful to the Trust and look forward to a year of (considerably more relaxing) part-time study.
